The forestry industry sends Ollie to Australian politicians
Through the initiative of the National Forest Industries Association, a copy of the Ollie’s Island CD ROM was sent to some key politicians in Australia. “We commend the work done by the (forest) association and note that Australian Government financial support has been provided through the Forest & Wood products Research & Development Corporation."
- The Honourable Peter McGauran – Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry – a letter sent on his behalf
“I am a strong supporter of educational programmes such as this one, as they are an effective method of disseminating accurate information about the forest industry to the wider community. I wish you all the best for the project.”
- The Honourable Julie Bishop – Minister for Education, Science and Training and Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Women’s Issues – a letter sent on her behalf
“The Minister values the effort that has been invested into developing a programme aimed at ensuring that students in schools throughout Australia become more aware of sustainable production and consumption across all major industries in Australia, including the forestry industry. The Australian Government is committed to school education that focuses on environmental management and sustainable development."
