Air pollution in AustraliaFor its population, Australia is one of the world’s worst carbon dioxide polluters. One of the reasons for this is that most Australian families have at least one car, and we tend to use our cars often. Another reason is that most of the electricity we produce in Australia comes from burning coal, and we are one of the highest users of electricity per person in the world. Global warming is a worldwide problem and as Australians, we must do our bit by conserving energy and rethinking how we use transport to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide we produce. United States Energy Information Administration, 2002.
