Large scale Composting

Compost is sometimes made on a large scale by companies. Huge volumes of organic material like timber waste, is broken up and put into tall piles to rot.

The companies use big machines to turn over the rotting material until it turns into compost. It is bagged for sale and sold at nurseries, supermarkets or petrol stations. Truckloads of compost are used for potting plants in nurseries and gardens.
