What is Landfill?
A landfill is a large area of land or excavated site that has been designed and built to hold waste.
Different types of landfills accept different types of waste. Household rubbish from kerbside
collection usually goes to a municipal solid waste landfill. These landfills accept items such as
food waste, garden waste, packaging materials, paper, car parts, textiles, and building materials.
However, it is much better to reduce, reuse and recycle most of these items to stop them from
reaching a landfill site in the first place.
