Interesting textiles facts

  • Making textiles from raw materials uses a lot of natural resources. Recycling textiles not only saves these resources, it also saves a large amount of energy and water.
  • Cotton clothing is the most sought after for recycling. If cotton clothing cannot be used again, it can be cut into smaller pieces and reused as industrial wipers.
  • Wool and heavyweight clothing are the least sought after for recycling because many countries that take Australia’s recycled clothing, like India, are too hot to make use of warmer clothes. Wool and heavyweight materials are not suitable for industrial wipers.
