Reusing Water

Greywater is the name for household wastewater that runs out of the bath, shower, washing machine, dishwasher and the kitchen and bathroom sinks. It doesn’t include water that runs out of the toilet, which is known as blackwater. Some houses have a greywater system installed with a collection tank and special plumbing to reuse greywater on the garden and even to flush the toilet. To reuse greywater safely it is very important to keep it clean by not letting any food or oils go down the kitchen sink.

Contact your local water service provider or local council to find out about installing a greywater system in your home.
