Saving Water at Home
We can do a lot to save and conserve the quality of water by remembering the 4R’s. Use these
practical tips to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rethink water use in your home:
In The Bathroom
- Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth.
- Don't take long showers - 5 minutes will get you clean.
- Install shower heads and taps with high water efficiency ratings
(3 A’s or higher)
- Try to have a shower instead of a bath.
- If you do have a bath, only fill your bathtub halfway.
- If you have a choice use the half flush on the toilet where possible.
- If you have an old style toilet, put something in the top of your
toilet to displace (or take out some of the space of) the water. Get
your parents to help you –a plastic bottle filled with stones may
work well.
- When buying a new toilet, choose one with a high water efficiency
rating (3A’s or higher).
