Research into Recycling

At the NRC, we have completed a ground-breaking study of the recycling and reuse industry in the United States. The study, known as the National Recycling Economic Information Project, shows how important recycling is to our economy. With the results of this study, we are able to provide the information and tools that governments, businesses and individuals need to educate people and promote recycling efforts in their communities. In particular, the study:

• Demonstrates to the broader community that recycling is a worthwhile industry with a proven track record;
• Assists government agencies with planning and policy decisions to ensure the continued growth of the industry;
• Identifies business opportunities for clever businessmen; and
• Provides people working in the recycling and reuse industries with important information so that they can promote awareness and build support for what they are doing.
