Traveling to Reduce Pollution

One of the easiest ways to cut down air pollution and reduce greenhouse gases is to reduce the amount we use our cars. We need to rethink when and why we use the car.

• For short trips, try walking or riding a bike.
• You can take public transport for some longer trips.
• Try sharing car trips with friends or family who are traveling the same way — this is called “car-pooling”.
• Adults should have their cars checked regularly, because well-tuned cars create less pollution.
• When your family is buying a new car, choose a fuel efficient model, or one that uses a cleaner, alternative fuel source. Don't buy a car that's bigger than your family needs.
