What is a Landfill Site?A landfill is a large area of land or excavated site that has been designed and built to hold waste. Items such as food and garden waste; paper and cardboard; steel, aluminium, glass and plastic packaging; textiles; appliances; car parts and building rubble can all be disposed of in municipal solid waste landfills. Of course, it is better to reduce, reuse and recycle most of these items to stop them from reaching a landfill site.
