What are Textiles?

Textiles are cloth materials made from fibers, woven by hand or machine. For most of history, these fibers came from plants and animals. These days, many fibers are produced by chemical and technical methods.

Things containing textiles

Plants provide most of the fibers for textiles. Cotton fibers produce soft, absorbent fabrics that are widely used for clothing, sheets, and towels. Fibers of the flax plant are made into linen, which is a popular fabric for tablecloths, napkins, handkerchiefs and clothing.
