Where Does Waste Go?Many of us sort the waste in our homes into recyclables and non-recyclables. The recyclable waste is placed in a recycling container, and the rest is put in the garbage can for collection. The waste in the recycling container is taken to a Material Recycling Facility where it is sorted and transported to recycling plants. The garbage is driven to a landfill site where it is buried. If waste is not placed in a garbage can or recycling container to be disposed of properly, it becomes litter and usually ends up on our streets and beaches and in our parks and waterways.
