Rainwater

Most of the rain that falls on our towns and cities runs off the ground and is washed away into the stormwater system, where it is eventually discharged into waterways or the sea.

One way to reduce our consumption of drinking water is to collect rainwater using a rainwater harvesting system. With a harvesting system installed, the rain which falls on the roofs of homes and other buildings can be collected and stored in a rainwater tank.

Although the water way not be suitable to drink, it can be used on the garden and for watering the lawn and cleaning the car. This reduces the amount of precious drinking water you use - saving money and helping preserve our water quality. To find out about installing a rainwater tank in your home, contact your local water provider.
