SWANA - the Solid Waste Association of North AmericaFor over 40 years, SWANA - the Solid Waste Association of North America - has been the leading professional association in the solid waste field. Their mission is to advance the practice of environmentally and economically sound municipal solid waste management.
SWANA’s work can be summed up in three words:
Their association serves just over 7,000 members throughout North America through a yearlong program of conferences and training courses, in addition to administering a certification program and offering cutting edge publications that cover all aspects of solid waste management. SWANA’s members come from both the public and private sectors of waste management. These are professionals who are involved in every aspect of the field; from transfer stations, landfill sites and waste to energy plants to collection systems, composting, recycling and landfill gas utilization, to name just a few. At SWANA’s core are eight technical divisions, each concentrating on furthering a specific area of waste management, for the benefit of both its members and the environment.
