Working with IXLA Web Easy Express
There are three major stages involved in creating a Web site with IXLA Web Easy Express;
- Design a document.
- Build it into a Web site.
- Publish it on the Web.
Creating a document
A document refers to the source document that you first design in IXLA Web Easy Express. It comprises one or more pages, and contains all the text
and graphical items that you want published on your web site. When you have finished designing the document it must be built into either a regular Web site or a Dynamic Web site. While it is still in the form of a
document, you cannot publish it on the Web.
A document is saved by default in the IXLA Web Easy Mil\Documents folder, with the .ALB file extension. (IXLA's own internal format)
There are two ways to create a document with IXLA Web easy Express;
- You can use the Web Assistant to help you create your document in one easy step or
- You can design a document based on a template.
Note: The "light" version of Web Easy Express has six templates with a maximum of 3 pages.
The full version has more than 40 templates with no limit on the number of pages per web site and special features that enable the programme to build database forms and other dynamic tools.
An IXLA Web Easy Template is a pre-designed sample document for you to use as a pattern for your own document, with most of the textual and
graphical design elements already positioned. Personalise any template by adding or altering the text, graphics and photos.
Building the document into a Web site
Each completed document must be converted to a Web site so it is in a format that enables people to view it with their Internet browsers on the
World Wide Web. IXLA Web Easy Express does this for you in the Build process.
When you build a document into a Web site or a Dynamic Web site, IXLA Web Easy creates the required HTML or DHTML files and converts all included
graphics to Web-compatible formats. After building the document, you can view in an Internet browser on your computer.
Publishing on the Web
After you have chosen an Internet Service Provider (ISP) or a Web hosting provider for hosting your Web site on the World Wide Web, you can then
Publish your local web site files. This involves transferring the set of HTML or DHTML files (that you created with the Build command) from your local computer to your ISP's remote computer on the Internet.
Use the Publish Assistant, which guides you through the complete file transfer process using the Internet's file transfer protocol (FTP).
More advanced users can publish their Web sites using IXLA FTP Max, the in-built FTP-client utility supplied with IXLA Web Easy Express.
This has been a quick guide to getting started on IXLA Web Easy Express.
