Recycling ComputersBecause the technology used in computer hardware and software is constantly being improved, computers become outdated very quickly. The average lifespan of a personal computer is only about 3 years, while computer monitors, printers and scanners usually last between 3 and 7 years. One way to reduce electronics waste is to refurbish and reuse these old computers. There are many organizations around the country that collect old computers and distribute them to schools, community organizations and needy families.
