Your Role in a product’s life cycle
Although it is up to companies to decide how they make a product, it is up
to you to decide how it is used. How you choose, use and dispose of a product
is an important part of its life cycle. It is no use making a product from
recyclable materials if it just ends up in landfill. Your role in a product’s
life cycle is to ensure that:
- before you buy anything,
you make sure that it is the best product for your needs.
- you
support companies that are environmentally responsible and buy products
that won’t harm the environment.
- you recycle
or reuse the product and packaging.
- or, if its
not recyclable, you make sure that it is disposed of safely
- you
use the product properly and efficiently
- you tell
companies how their products could be improved. If you think
that some products have too much packaging or could be more useful or more
environmentally
friendly,
contact the company and tell them.
