Closing the Loop

When waste is recycled and we buy the recycled products, use them, and then recycle them again, we create a closed loop. Closing the loop reduces the amount of raw material and energy required to make products.

People can help to close the loop by buying recycled products when they are available.

So two rules for Smart Shopping which close the recycling loop are:

• Buy products that can be recycled; and
  
• Buy products made from recycled material
