How to use the Ollie's Island CD-ROM
The Ollie’s Island Program has been developed so that it can be used in the home environment or in classroom activities. The document listed below sets down different ways to use the Ollie’s Island Program in classroom activities.
The Quick Lesson Ideas describe the different pathways through the information and are best used for a limited number of sessions. Each pathway should be able to be completed in 1-2 classroom lessons.
The Units of Work supplement content from the Ollie’s Island CD ROM and provide a detailed curriculum structure for educators to plan classroom lessons. These Units of Work can be used to teach 1-2 classroom lessons – or extended to cover a whole theme of work across a number of weeks. Educators will find the sequence of activities in the Units of Work will help them assess their students for a wide variety of Learning Outcomes or Standards. It is suggested that educators decide on what aspects of their curriculum they wish to assess before they start.
