Australian Water Association
The
Australian Water Association (AWA) is a not-for-profit organisation
with an overarching mission "to promote the sustainable management
of water". Operating since 1962, AWA is Australia’s largest
not-for-profit water resource focussed association with well over 4,000
members of which 750 are corporate or utility members. Members are
made up of both organisations and individuals and look to AWA to keep
them informed and connected within the water industry and broader water
environment sector.
AWA established the Water Education Network (WEN) in 2004. WEN is open to anyone with an interest in water education. Free subscription to the monthly electronic newsletter WEN e-news is available on AWA’s Education web site http://www.awa.asn.au/education.
For students the WEN runs the prestigious Australian Junior Water Prize which selects a national representative for the international Stockholm Junior Water Prize. High school students are encouraged to enter a water science project and be in the running to go to Stockholm Sweden! Details including an information kit and entry form are available at http://www.awa.asn.au/ajwp.
