What is a Waste to Energy Plant?

Some cities around the world don’t have enough space to create landfill sites where they can bury their waste. This means they have to burn their waste.

The places where they burn their waste are sometimes called combustors or waste to energy plants. These plants burn the waste and create energy from the burning process.

There are special requirements for running one of these plants because of air pollution problems. There are very strict rules and regulations to make all waste to energy plants use special equipment to reduce air pollution.
