OLLIE CONTINUES TO GROW IN UK

Ollie Recycles continues to entertain students and teachers around the United Kingdom. Groundwork uses the program in their community education workshops throughout the United Kingdom. Each week Sustain Ability International receives inquiries from UK teachers and students in relation to the Ollie Recycles CD ROM proving its enduring value within the local community.

The next stage in the development of the Ollie Suite of Programs in the United Kingdom will the development of a local version of the Ollie Saves the Planet Program. 

Sustain Ability International will use its proven strategy of linking with Government, Industry and Educational groups to not only develop the program but also to distribute, disseminate and promote it within communities across the United Kingdom. Of course the Groundwork Foundation will also be involved in this new program having tirelessly supported Ollie since he was first introduced in the United Kingdom in 1999.

FREE CD DELIVERED TO EVERY PRIMARY SCHOOL IN THE UK

Biffa Waste Services Ltd. along with other supporting organisations are funding the distribution of one free copy of the new UK Ollie Recycles 2001 CD ROM into every primary school in the United Kingdom.

LAUNCH OF COMPETITION

To coincide with the release of the new UK Ollie Recycles 2001 CD ROM, the supporters of the Ollie Program are launching a national website building competition.

This competition is titled "The 3R's in My School," and asks students to take positive environmental action in their schools and then record and present their results in their own web pages.  This will be done using the web page authoring software available on the Ollie Recycles CD ROM or from this website.

The winners of this competition will be announced early in the new year and will be posted in Ollie's Website Gallery. For more information about this competition click here to take you to the Competition section.

HELP FOR TEACHERS ON THE WAY – GROUNDWORK TO THE RESCUE

In more than 40 areas of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, Groundwork staff will be seeking out schools that want help with major environmental projects around their schools or advice on how to get started with the Ollie Competition. To see if there is Groundwork near you check out the Groundwork website.

Groundwork staff near you can help deliver a range of waste and recycling projects linked to all the important curriculum targets. Schools will be able to arrange to borrow multiple copies of the Ollie CD to allow larger numbers of children to work with Ollie at the same time.

Local Groundwork staff can help you build links with waste, recycling, arts and environmental organisations and to design projects that fit your needs. They have a wealth of knowledge about resources and initiatives that will make your project meet your curriculum targets and be fun for all involved.
