Plastics and Chemicals Industries Association (PACIA)
PACIA
- the Plastics and Chemicals Industries Association - represents Australia's
plastics, chemicals, adhesives and sealants industries, with more than
260 member companies.
PACIA activities include:
- Providing
information about the plastics and chemicals industries and promoting
its activities to a wide range of audiences, including government, media,
educators and community groups. This includes raising community awareness
and understanding of the role of plastics and chemicals in daily life
- Assisting in performance improvement by members through training programs,
seminars and forums, as well as initiatives such as Responsible Care,
Plascare and carrier accreditation.
- Providing occupational health and safety training for members and
non-members, and working with companies to ensure that the plastics
and chemicals industries are leaders in health, safety and environmental
performance.
- Playing a key role in Australian and international regulatory affairs
affecting the plastics and chemicals industries, and taking the lead
in areas such as the National Pollution Inventory, NICNAS (National
Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme) and anti-dumping
legislation.
- Promoting safe disposal of plastics and chemical wastes, playing a
key role in a number of programs and projects in these areas
