Amcor - Committed to Recycling
Amcor's
commitment to recycling is reflected in its history. In the 1860s it became
the first Australian company to recycle any commodity, and in the 1940s
became the country's first kerb-side recycler, using a horse and cart.
It is estimated that Amcor has recycled in excess of 35 million tonnes
of paper and cardboard in the past 120 years.
During the year ending June 2001, Amcor collected a record 790,000 tonnes
of waste paper - an increase of 42,000 tonnes from the previous year.
Amcor's commitment to recycling extends to being a foundation member
of the Buy Recycled Business Alliance (BRBA). BRBA's mission is to promote
the purchase and use of recycled content products and materials through
leadership by example, education and information, research and development
and partnerships.
