Walk to Cure Diabetes
More than 600 Australia Post staff joined a record crowd of 22,000 people
in a walk around Melbourne's Albert Park Lake in October 2002 to raise
money for the fight against juvenile diabetes.
Staff from the Dandenong Letters Centre, Retail, Delivery, Messenger
Post and Headquarters - including the Managing Director Graeme John -
walked the five kilometres around the lake in support of the Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation. The Foundation is the largest private supporter
of medical research in the country, and provides funds to Australian
researchers working towards a cure for juvenile diabetes.
This and other staff initiatives raised over $10,000 for the Foundation,
which was matched by another $10,000 donation from Australia Post.
Posties Ride for a Cause
Each December, Posties around Australia do what they do best – rev
their bikes and fill their mail bags with cuddly toys in support of the
Salvation Army’s annual Christmas toy run.
