Salvation Army Family Stores, continued
Collection
In an effort to become more 'donor friendly', Family Stores have introduced
a number of new methods of collecting household goods for reusing and
recycling. These include:
- Promoting each Family Store as a donation centre and encouraging donors
to bring their donations direct to the store. To assist donors some
Family Stores open in the evenings and on Sundays for the collection
of donations.
- Continued development of the use of sulo banks as a method of collection
to replace outdoor collection banks
Family Stores currently operates a fleet of 39 Trucks and 3 Vans. These
vehicles carry out home and sulo bank collections daily. Home collections
continue to provide stores with quality donations and a minimum amount
of rubbish.
