Clean Water for Manly Beach

Ocean Beach in Manly, a famous Sydney beach, has a new stormwater system to help stop polluted rainwater reaching the beach. There are special pavers along the parking spots on the road. Rain and nasties such as oil drips drain through the pavers and filter through sand and a soil containing microbes that digest the pollutants. Clean water comes out the other side!

The clean water is stored underground and reused to water Manly's famous Norfolk Island Pines. The Manly Council did this project with help from our Urban Stormwater Initiative.
