Air Activities, continued
Woodsmoke
Smoke from woodheaters causes bad air pollution during the winter in
many parts of Australia. Breathing woodsmoke can cause, or make worse,
a range of health problems such as asthma, bronchitis and even cancer.
It can be especially harmful to the elderly and very young children.

Environment Australia is teaching people how to use their woodheaters
in a way that reduces smoke. Australians are also encouraged to choose
a heater that uses electricity or gas instead. The Commonwealth Government
is also working with State, Territory and Local Governments to help make
our air quality better for everyone.
