Mitre 10 Junior Landcare Grants Program continues its successTwo years after the seeds were planted for the Mitre 10 Junior Landcare Grants Program a total of 1,000 schools and youth groups nationwide have been granted a Mitre 10 Junior Landcare grant. The Mitre 10 Junior Landcare Grants Program turns environmental dreams into reality, and engages school children and youth groups in environmental sustainability through ‘hands on’ activities. Thanks to Mitre 10, each successful school and youth group has received a grant of up to $500 to help them participate in environmental education activities. This equates to approximately 50,000 kids across Australian being involved in hands on environmental education projects within their schools and local communities. These results make the Mitre 10 Junior Landcare Grants Program one of the most substantial and far-reaching environmental educational programs in Australia. According to Landcare Australia Chief Executive Officer, Brian Scarsbrick, the Mitre 10 Junior Landcare Grants Program is a pillar in Australian environmental conservation, going from strength to strength since first introduced in 2003. Scarsbrick is adamant that the Mitre 10 Junior Landcare Grants Program is of invaluable relevance and importance in the education of our next generation. “It is inspiring to see how eager Australian youth are to learn about the environment and the issues affecting it. The children benefiting from Mitre 10’s Junior Landcare Grants Program today may well be the environmental heroes in the future,” Brian said.
