OLLIE SAVES THE PLANET - BACKGROUND
Educationalists, industry representatives and experts in multimedia have developed the Ollie Program utilizing the latest in multimedia technology to create a learning tool for children between the ages of 5 – 13 years that is exciting, challenging and up-to-date with environmental information.
The Ollie Saves the Planet Program has many hours of activities, information and challenges delivered through an animated multimedia format. It has been written using the North American Association of Environmental Education Best Practice Resource Guidelines so that it can be used in the classroom or home environment. Ollie
Saves the Planet is an industry led interactive environmental education
initiative that introduces the concept of sustainability and asks users
to reduce, reuse, recycle and rethink their actions in the areas of waste,
water, energy, air and biodiversity. It does this within the context
of local conditions and the local school educational guidelines.
The Office of the Federal Environmental Executive, the Solid Waste Association
of North America (SWANA) the National Recycling Coalition (NRC), the
Water Education Foundation, CHEP, V-COM and the US Postal Service are
all proud 
Now that the CD ROM and Website Program are finished, the producers
are working with a number of community and industry groups to get the
program used as widely as possible across the USA. To this end they are
carrying out “Train the Trainer” and “Train the Teacher” workshops
to show educators the best way to use the Ollie Program in their classrooms.
