Ollie in Hong Kong

Primary School.
The Ollie Saves the Planet Program has recently
been in use by students at the Hong Kong Poinsettia Primary School
in Hong Kong. The school was established in 1999 for the Nepalese
community in Hong Kong, and educates children who cannot attend
the Chinese mainstream schools and come from a very low socio-economic
background.
The CD ROM was trialled in a class of year 6 students and the
response was overwhelmingly positive. Gigi Warne, Principal of
the school, says: “Though the context was Australian it
did not matter, as it seems to bridge easily across other cultures… It
opened the eyes of my students at HKPPS on the problems affecting
the earth and they had great fun with it.”
The Producers of the Ollie Programs are excited to see students
from different cultures all over the world being brought together
by the same positive message of environmental preservation and
sustainability.
