Energy
Alumina refineries are among the most energy efficient processing plants
in the world - about twice as efficient as the normal electricity generating
power stations. We use a process called "co-generation", where
steam is first used to drive turbo-alternator turbines and then used a
second time as process heat.

Water
Water conservation is an important part of resource use in industry.
At Alcoa we recognise the importance of developing water supplies for
industry that do not diminish the amount of fresh water available for
domestic consumption.
