Amcor and the Earthwatch Institute

Illustrating Amcor's commitment to the environment and sustainability,
a partnership has been formed with the Earthwatch Institute to create
the Amcor/Earthwatch Global Employee Fellowship Program.
Earthwatch Institute is a unique organisation that promotes sustainable
conservation by creating a partnership with scientists, the public, educators
and business. It directly involves the public in scientific field research,
and this year will support more than 140 expeditions in over 40 countries
on six continents.

Amcor is committed to supporting Earthwatch field research
by sponsoring five employees from around the Amcor group to participate
in environmental programs. Each project is different, but all involve
a range of tasks such as observing and recording data, collecting samples,
photography and cataloguing materials.
As well as conducting valuable field research, the initiative also provides
Amcor's people with the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of
environmental issues and expand their own personal and professional development.
Some examples of the employees selected this year include:
- A Forklift Operator at Fibre Containers in Queensland, Australia,
who will be going to Southern Chile to study the river otters of the
area which are in danger of extinction;
- An Administrator at Amcor Containers Packaging Asia in Thailand who
will participate in the Rainforests of Northern Australia project, monitoring
the unique ecosystem of the area.
