Energy
Many of our post offices, mail processing centres, delivery centres
and administration sites have become more energy efficient with their
lighting,
air conditioning, and general power usage. Some of the things we have
done to reduce our energy consumption are:
- Installing high-efficiency,
long-life light tubes to replace low-efficiency fluorescent tubes.
- Installing
devices such as motion detectors and time-switches, making changes
to existing thermostats, hot water systems, and maintenance programs
to increase energy efficiency.

- Installing ‘intelligent building management systems’ in
new mail centres and delivery centres. These help to ensure that air
conditioning, heating units, and lighting are all operating to maximum
energy efficiency.
- Installing a new energy-efficient air-conditioning chiller
in our NSW state head office.
- Revising the design of new buildings and
building materials to maximise our environmental efficiency.

in Tewantin, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. A total of 4,784
solar collector cells installed on the roof convert light into electricity,
which is fed directly into the electricity grid.
