Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions, continued

Area 3 - Natural Gas Distribution

Underground gas pipesOrigin Energy supplies gas to homes and business through underground pipes.

As natural gas is a non-renewable resource, new pipes are being developed ensuring gas leaks don't occur and gas isn't wasted. In 2001, 219km of gas pipes were replaced as part of a six-year ongoing program.

Area 4 - Customer Use

To help our customers reduce their greenhouse gases, we have developed the Clean Energy Advantage range of products and services. This gives customers energy choices at home and work that help to reduce their impact on the environment by:

  • Reducing the amount of energy that they use; and
  • Using technologies that reduce greenhouse gases, or cut them out altogether, such as solar, hydro or wind generated energy.

Origin Energy has a team of people who visit companies and local councils to give advice on how to reduce the energy used.

Information for customers on saving energy is available from our stores, newsletters and website.

Origin Energy also has products called Green Earth allowing customers to demand electricity made from renewable sources. By buying Green Earth people can help reduce the amount of electricity being made from non-renewable resources.
