Wind EnergyThe Codrington Wind Farm was set up in June 2001. It began as Victoria's first, and Australia's largest, wind farm. The farm is located near Port Fairy on the southern coast of Victoria - a very windy place!
The wind farm produces enough electricity to power 14,000 homes each year. It will reduce production of greenhouse gases by up to 55,000 tonnes every year. Origin Energy buys all the energy from the wind farm. This means we can offer customers a 100% wind product called Green Earth Plus. This is the first energy product of its kind in Australia. Codrington is open to the public and operates tours of the farm, which give an insight into how this form of energy is produced.
