Qenos - Recycling Milk Bottles

Qenos logo

Qenos was one of the key players in establishing a recycling system for High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) milk bottles in Australia.

During the time of their involvement, the national recycling rate for milk bottles increased from 0% in 1989 to 42% in 1997. This system today recycles over 50% of HDPE milk bottles, preventing them going to landfill.

Milk sold in 2 litre plastic bottles is the lightest liquid packaging available in the Australian market and is supplied to the market in returnable crates and pallets, which are increasingly made from recycled material. Recycled HDPE is also used to make mobile garbage bins and crates.
