Basell Australia - Recycling Polypropylene

Basell Australia's commitment to recycling extends from improved internal operations, to assisting in improving the capability of the recycling industry with respect to the recycling of polypropylene. Presently viable recycling schemes for products manufactured from polypropylene are in place. Products such as battery cases, car bumper bars and ice cream containers are already being recycled. Basell is assisting the recycling industry in looking at:

  • Effective and efficient PP separation facilities.
  • Washing facilities to minimise the effect of contaminants on the properties of the recycled PP.
  • Improving the economics of PP recycling
  • Developing markets for recyclate PP.
