Telstra's Environmental Policy
Telstra
highly values the natural environment and is firmly committed to sound
environmental practice in its daily operations.
Taking compliance with environmental laws as a starting point, Telstra
works to ensure that it minimises its impact on the environment when undertaking
any of its activities and works hard to preserve the qualities of the
environment by:
- Continually improving the way Telstra uses resources, including energy,
water, a range of products and building materials;
- Minimising the amount of waste Telstra creates by reducing, reusing
and recycling wherever possible and by making sure the waste Telstra
creates is disposed of responsibly;
- Managing Telstra's diverse range of activities so that it causes least
impact to air, water, land, sound, visual quality or flora and fauna;
- Working with Telstra staff to use good environmental work practices
and by providing adequate training and resources to ensure these practices
are carried out;
- Insisting that Telstra contractors and suppliers meet the same environmental
standards as Telstra has set for itself; and
- Being open and responsive to the environmental concerns of the community
and government.
