Reuse Activities
Telstra's old furniture is sold off for second-hand use, and Telstra's
electronic equipment such as PCs, photocopiers and printers are returned
back to the suppliers, who refurbish the equipment for reuse.
Recycle Activities
Many
of Telstra's main office areas now have recycling facilities, which enable
staff to recycle all paper, cardboard, bottles, cans, and cartons, which
helps reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.
Telstra also recycles old copper cables, steel from old equipment, batteries
and telephones.
Telstra participates in the national mobile phone recycling scheme by
allowing the public to return all old or faulty mobile phones, and particularly
mobile phone batteries, to its Telstra Shops (retail outlets). These mobile
phones and batteries are then collected for recycling.
