Community Programs
 Telstra
sponsors, supports and also participates in a range of local and national
events across Australia aimed at increasing involvement in, and providing
assistance to, the community and the environment. This support includes
the following:
- Telstra is a major sponsor of Landcare Australia. Landcare aims to
raise awareness that through careful management of the land and all
its resources we can all maintain our quality of life, as well as that
of future generations. In addition to Telstra's official involvement,
many of its staff ("Telstra Friends") volunteer their time
to local Landcare groups and programs.
- Telstra continues to be a sponsor of the Banksia Environment Foundation
and the Communications Category of the Banksia Environmental Awards.
The Banksia Environmental Foundation is a national organisation that
supports and recognises people in the community who make a positive
contribution to addressing environmental improvement.
- Telstra also supports Clean Up Australia. Telstra Friends and families
are actively involved in participating in voluntary or supervisory roles
at Clean Up sites throughout the country, to assist in the clean up
of local areas.
Social Issues
Telstra continually assesses the impact of its activities on society.
This includes impacts on Telstra Company employees, customers, supply
chain and business partners, and local and global communities. We are
working towards social sustainability in issues such as employee management,
workplace health and safety, training and education, human rights, working
conditions and opportunities.
