Textiles Recycling Tips

Anything you wear, or sleep in, can be recycled. This includes all clothes, hats, belts, and shoes (in pairs) along with blankets, curtains, towels and bed linen. Remember that its best to wash clothes before taking them to be recycled. Check the instructions on your clothing recycle bag or on your local clothing bin, or call your local charity to find out which clothing items can and cannot be recycled in your area.

Remember that clothing bins are an important part of the textile recycling process. Do not use them as rubbish bins. Only put in items that can be recycled. Badly damaged clothing and household goods cannot be used by the charity and must be disposed of in landfill. This is costly and time consuming for the charity.
