Grey Water
Grey water is the name for wastewater that comes from the bath, shower,
laundry and kitchen in homes. It can potentially be re-used for watering
gardens and even flushing the toilet. Some wastewater from industry can
also be classified as grey water and, after being treated, may also be
suitable for re-use.
We hope that in the future there will be affordable, safe systems for
storing and re-using grey water in the homes and businesses where we supply
water. A local council can approve specific applications for grey water
use, however there are potential health problems, so people need to investigate
these issues with their local council. They can also contact City West
Water's Conservation Programs Specialist and EPA Victoria to obtain further
information.
