Responsible Care
Responsible Care is an initiative of the international chemical industry
to improve the health, safety and environmental performance of its operations
and to increase community involvement and awareness of the industry. At
this stage 46 countries are participating.
As a condition of membership to PACIA, our member chemical companies
must adhere to the guiding principles for Responsible care and the Responsible
Care Codes of Practice.
These guiding principles include:
- Operational Safety - to ensure preservation of the environment and
protection of the health and safety of our employees and the community.
- Product Stewardship - to assess risks and ensure these risks are eliminated
or properly managed through the supply chain and entire life cycle of
our products.
- Resource Sustainability - to aim for resource sustainability and work
towards the elimination of waste in all our activities, in order to
care for the needs of future generations.
- Community Involvement - to ensure communication with local and broader
communities.
- Industry Collaboration - to share knowledge and encourage and assist
others to adhere to codes of best practice.
- Co-operation with Government.
